This entire "article" seems to be written in an extremely biased and unprofessional way. A fanboy calling out fanboys?
Nevertheless, I understand the author's logic: Nintendo introduced motion controls to the market (although even that is open to debate), with Sony and Microsoft following the "leader" a few years later. But if that's how we measure innovation, then we'll have to acknowledge that Sony and Microsoft also innovated by bringing HD ...
For the love of gaming!!!! Stop listening to reviewers and try the games for yourselves. I've had great experiences with games that got poor reviews.
"Professional" reviewers are more interested in pleasing the marketing department of publishers, than they are in their duty towards gamers.
Yes Zir0, Kinect is the best thing EVAH! And all PS3 owners are veeeeeery jealous of the voice recogn... eeehhhrrrr, I mean Kinect integration in Mass Effect 3. Fist bump!/s
You're trying too hard.
My PS3 doesn't freeze. It only heats up. Should I call Sony?
Fist bump!
Bubble up for both.
Be warned, though: comments with even the slightest semblance of wisdom are most unwelcome at N4G.
You know what's more annoying than people bringing up GT on a Forza article and vice-versa?
It's people bringing up Rfactor and Iracing in GT/Forza articles. The reason why it's annoying is because whenever a story about those PC games gets posted on N4G, it struggles to reach 50º and it ends up with 0 comments. You want to boast about the superiority of Rfactor? Fine by me. Just do it in a story about Rfactor.
The people who came to read...
I think you took the wrong turn back there, budy.
Here, let me help - http://n4g.com/channel/forz...
You have a point. It's been over 6 months and we still haven't seen any DLC with new cars and tracks, paid or otherwise. That's very strange. I doubt the folks at Polyphony are all in extended vacation since November. Either they are preparing a huge update for GT5, or they have moved on to an entirely new game (GT for PSVita maybe).
It sure would be nice to know what they're up to, because right now it feels like they are barely supporting GT5.
People sure are easily impressed these days.
But not me... I think I'll just skip this one.
It's not just about price. Nintendo knows they have the casual market, so now they are aiming for the core gamers, where the PS3 and 360 dominate. But even with massive 3rd party support and even if the games look slightly better and run smoother, I don't see gamers jumping ship from Sony/Microsoft to a system with a few obvious shortcomings: no HDD, proprietary optical discs, an online infrastructure that is years behind the competition. And that's considering that the WiiU (sigh...
I thought Peace Walker was going to get a separate release. At least I remember reading it somewhere. I'm not going to buy the whole set for $60 just to play PW. I'm not interested in MGS2 and MGS3 for the same reason I didn't buy the God of War Collection: already have them, already played them, too many new games coming out, too little time.
Attach ratios don't seem to be a factor in Kinect's success story, so why bring it up when discussing the PSP. Sounds like double standards to me.
That meme is too old to be funny anymore. Anyway, I'm kinda glad/nostalgic to see the tradition is being followed. Every single system released by Sony to this day has had a Ridge Racer game at launch.
I think Sony's press conference didn't disappoint, but it wasn't surprising either. There was no "is this really happening?" moment like last year when Gabe Newell took the stage.
But all the basics were there. New games for the core gamer. New hardware. And I'm glad they pushed move as an alternative for traditional controllers, not as a replacement. Mission accomplished for Sony, i guess.
Here's what Microsoft showed us at last year's E3 press conference: Halo, COD, Forza, Fable, Gears, Kinect, Kinect, Kinect.
Now think about what we've just seen at this year's press conference. It wasn't better... or worse. It was exactly the same!!! Except this year we got some new Halo games announced... 4 of them!
I have to be honest... For a moment there, I thought someone had flipped the wrong switch and they were streaming Microsoft's E3 2010 press conference again.
There is no point, nothing to prove. They just love the spotlight. Gives them the illusion of power.
Did your honest and logical opinion take into consideration that the game is still retailing for $60?
It will quite possibly shift many more copies once it is discounted to $20-$30. I remember Valkyria Chronicles taking a massive bump in sales once it reached half-price.
Good review and good read, but your overall score doesn't seem to reflect what you wrote. I would probably give GT5 a score of 8,5. The game is graphically inconsistent and there are a number of technical issues, like the insane initial install and the flawed damage system.
But then there's the driving. I've spent hours racing against the clock all by myself, just testing different cars and racing conditions on the Nordschleife. It's that good, and nothing els...
